The Christmas crew came to town, with 4 of our grands. So, Hidden Valley was called for. And it delivered, as usual! Kids had a great time climbing and exploring.

We decided to access from the Buena Vista lookout. A great option. Less busy than Mormon Trail, and less elevation for the little legs.

We got an early start, enabling us to finish before 8 am and the heat. Warm and humid on the hike but not bad. Not many people out. Saw a speckled rattler who hid in the rocks before I could get a picture.

The chuckies were active within Hidden Valley and along sections of the Mormon Trail, as well as a large, nonaggressive bee swarm on a ledge at the south side of the tunnel. Because of the extreme heat, completed solo without Dese as an out and back because silly shuttles are for the Fossil Fuels Rule! cult.

I joined Flechkl and the gecko for an Independence Day hike. We got going early, just before 5AM, to try and beat the sun and heat. Nice hike up in the shade. Fletch set a solid pace.
At the top of Geronimo we parted ways. The girls were just hiking Geronimo, and I wanted some extra credit.
I hiked up to the benchmark at the top of Old Man/Eagle Pass, then descended Guadalupe Ridge about a quarter mile to a use trail that connects with National. From there I hiked through Hidden Valley, back on the National to Buena Vista lookout, and down Geronimo.
Lots of mountain bikers out today. Very sparse beyond that. Good workout. Thanks ladies. :)

up geronimo, hit the benchmark above eagle pass, down the ridgeline to a well defined use trail that cuts over to national
went through hidden valley, then up to both of two peaks, returning on national and geronimo
two peaks is fun - i don't go up there very often
saw a lot of mountain bikers
there were more gnats than yesterday going from pyramid
highlight was seeing a tiger rattlesnake on the way down geronimo
john spotted a chuckwalla too
breakfast at bisbee breakfast club, where i got to meet john's daughter sydney and see janie again

Kelly and I have hiked Geronimo through Hidden Valley and back a couple times. We added Two Peaks for a solid 10+ mile hike.
Lots of mountain bikers out, though the same ones went by multiple times.
Saw a pretty red tailed chuckwalla and a tiger rattlesnake returning on Geronimo.
Met my wife and daughter for breakfast. Fun day. Thanks Kelly. :)
