This is an amazing area to go to. Full of history, beautiful trees, and totally remote landscape. A couple of notes on the hike and drive.

First, FR25A is 4x4 only and after it gets to the water crossing, I'd say its jacked up 4x4 only. There are numerous very rocky areas after you reach that point. Fortunately, its only about .8 miles from the turn off to the mine.

Second, about the hike. I think the 260 trail (west fork) turn off from the cornucopia trail is no longer marked. You get to a sign post that has distances going forward and back on the cornucopia trail, and there is a trail that seems to go off to the left at this point. I imagine you can still find your way along it, although I kept going past on the cornucopia trail.

I plan to go back out to this amazing area.

My annual trip out here. I wandered around the trail for a bit, then dropped down into the canyon below. Came back out and explored the old mine area (which is on the first hill to the right when you start the trail. Not much to see there, except some old wooden beams and some other rusted equipment.

Great bang for your buck on this hike. The drive out there is quick and easy. The hike itself is fairly short, yet very rewarding. You get a nice hike through a little canyon to start, then come up higher to get a great view of the superstitions, including the tip of weaver's needle. The falls area is very cool to hang out in, even with no water. I'm looking forward to going back after a rain to see how it looks then.

Another great close hike. I scrambled up to the top of the mountain on this hike. The view from the top is worth the bit of extra effort to get up there.

Initially was planning to do the longer loop, but cut it short due to possibility of bad weather. Another great hike in the superstition. Starts out in a beautiful valley and then climbs out taking you towards more remote areas of the wilderness. Weather was very nice, other than the threat of rain and high winds, which we got back in time to avoid.

Hiked to the peak, past flat iron this time. Very steep and treacherous as always. Once at the top, it was a bit confusing as to the way to get to the peak. You turn left at the top of the ridge, then work your way to the right, over the saddle. After that, look for the trail very soon breaking off to the left through some denser vegetation. Views from the peak are much better in my opinion than from flat iron.
