Wow, it's been a while since I've gone hiking anything of substance, but I finally got up Wrightson! Don't know how some of you do this in as little as 4 hours?! :worthy: Just happy I've finally gotten up there.
Was surprised to see that Bellows Spring had created about an inch thick ice rink across the trail.

Flowing quite well. Clear and cold with plentiful ice across the trail. Delicious!!

Finally made it to Picacho. What a great hike! Went with three wonderful women. :)
Poppies are out, but not prolific. Everything is so green though. Lupines are making a strong start as well.
With all the people that were there, and the absolutely brand new (LEED certified) Visitors Center (dedicated in October 2009), I really have no idea why this is being closed in June. So sad.
Great short hike with some real leg-burner moments. And truly unique with all the rigging to get through the "tough" areas. By the way, I made it ok without gloves, but they wouldn't hurt to have.

Tried about a year ago to make it up Cat Mountain from the West unsuccessfully. Decided instead that it might be better to approach from the East-Southeast and clamber along the spine. Parked of Ajo Way and wandered in along a trail. Then just SE of the false peak (knob) cut off trail to the West and up to the false peak, then along the spine to the main peak. Not a bad route at all! The fake rock with the Sheriff's repeater is still up there. Now there is also a solar panel for it. So glad to finally get to the top of this as I can see the mountain from my home. Gorgeous views all around from the peak, and some great cliffs along the south side. Also simply fun hiking along the spine from East to West.

Nice roundtrip up King's Canyon to the peak of Wasson, the highest in the Tucson Mountains.. Then down the Hugh Norris Trail, to the Sendero Esperanza trail to the Gould Mine Trail back to the trailhead for a round trip of 7.8 miles with different views up than down. Got pretty warm for February!
