I wasn’t feeling great and only made it to the two-mile post. I stopped a lot for photos on the way back down, plus I sat and relaxed for a bit enjoying the view. I was closer than I’d realized to the end of the major climb, and I wish I would have just continued!

There are a lot of options up there! We cut around some buildings before we hit the peak and went down and around...past the restaurant, eventually...then made another wrong choice (my friend thought) and ended up very close to the 7th St parking area. Great exercise because we were either climbing or descending (steeply!) except the last half mile or so back to the car.

I did this hike with my seven-year-old daughter on a sunny Saturday afternoon and although there were plenty of other people, it wasn't crowded at all. It starts with a nice long stretch to get you warmed up before the grade increases drastically. As our second hike ever, we took it slowly and stopped a lot to enjoy the scenery. We also ate lunch at the peak for a nice break.

The only thing I'd change is that I wish we'd have been wearing some shoes with ankle support because pretty much the whole trail is full of big rocks.

My seven-year old daughter and I started with this as an easy first trip. The slope was very gradual for the first 3/4 mile or so, but we still had enough elevation to appreciate the view. It was a fairly rocky trail, so we definitely had to watch our footing. We started kind of late in the afternoon so we turned around before the sun set, so we'd have good light all the way down. She loved it, and we plan to go again soon and go much farther!
