Went down the Knagge Trail from Incenirator Ridge. We went down to the 1st drainage crossing and enjoyed the water and gave thanks for the great monsoon season. Then we went up the nice little peak (7556 on the map) for some great views of the San Pedro and Galiuros.

Hiked up from Pima Canyon TH. Got an early start but messed by taking the ridge just N of the parking lot, had to backtrack about 800 ft in elevation, oops. The steep drainage to the east of my failed ridge provided access to the high ridge. I saw a person at the summit but missed them by about 20 minutes. Very steep in places and lots of gnats, pretty hot too.

Car camped at Spencer Canyon Campground Friday and Saturday nights. Biggest rainstorm of the monsoon so far, rain or fog all weekend.

Bushwhacked WNW from the campground and met the Box Camp Trail just south (below) Spencer Peak. Followed the trail WSW past the rushing cataracts to the Box Camp Spring junction. Kept going to the next crossing then headed back. Light rain and very thick fog at times. Tons of water

Hot in Tucson, so a weekend at 9000 feet sounded great. With an early start we were at Madera and hiking by 6:30.

Old Baldy to Josephine Saddle wasn't too hot We ended up taking a nice break there. Walked down to Sprung Spring to fill up with lots of water for the dry camp at Baldy Saddle. Below Sprung Spring in the drainage is a beautiful spring with excellent water.

Onward and upward the hike was nice to the Baldy Saddle lots of shade on the trail. Bellows Spring has water just up the drainage from the concrete basin. Wish I would have filled up there for the top instead.

Awesome camp close to the saddle. Fantastic humming bird display. Hiked up the crest and went up Rice Peak. Plenty of hang out time in camp enjoying the cool breeze. Went up to Wrightston before dark. Witnessed a fantastick sunset. Nice and cool.

Next morning slept in. Took the Super Trail down. Lots of fire damage but the trail itself is in great shape. Lots of sun exposure so it is pretty hot. Not nearly as crowded as Old Baldy.

All in all a great weekend.

From the parking area at the top of Mt. Lemmon we hiked down the Mt. Lemmon trail to the Wilderness of Rocks trail over to the Lemmon Rock LO trail and back up to the top.

We left the parking area about 9 and followed the Mt Lemmon trail down the mountain. It was about 110 in Tucson that day and we were concerned that it might be pretty warm up on the mountain. It was warm but not unbearable. Once we left the old road bed at the Sutherland trail junction the hiking became a little more fun. The trail stays on the NW side of the ridge so the views of Wilderness of Rocks were mostly hidden.

Once we reached the Wilderness of Rocks trail we knew we were in for a good time. Our only concern was water, although I couldn't imagine Lemmon Creek would be bone dry. Not far along the trail we saw the first signs of agua in a Lemmon Creek side drainage. Not much further there was a ton of water in another side drainage. We camped on a nearby ridge in a sweet spot that was pretty well established.

Since we had plenty of day left we took off with out the packs up one of the drainages with a trickle of water flowing and found a nifty little waterfall. From there we headed to one of the rocky high points, awesome.

Had a nice cool night and headed out the next day. Saw a few people on the way out, some camped at Lemmon Creek and some day hiking. Lemmon Creek was flowing nicely.
The climb going out wasn't too bad, we took our time. The weather was great. I recommend hiking the loop in this direction because the Lemmon Rock LO trail provides great shade for sweaty climb.

This was several months back so the details are a little sketchy and the date is approximate. The access around there is interesting due to a housing development in in the canyon north of the peak. We parked at the private property boundrey and headed south. We crossed the drainage then worked our way to the east side of the mountain. Followed the path of least resistance up a drainage missing the cliffs. Only a bit of scambling but about 3/4 up some pesky brush was encountered. Also very steep and somewhat loose footing.

The summit was pretty nice but not particularly inviting as a rest stop. On a clear day it would be even nicer.

We didn't want to try our luck going back down the same route. So we headed northwest then almost due north before heading back east to avoid the steep east side of the peak. In retrospect that may have been a mistake. All was going well but then we realized why we hadn't picked that route for the acsent, the cliffband. Not to bad but Lucky the dog wasn't in to being lowered. So we ended up going much farther north than we would have prefered to weave through the cliff band on talus and brush.

All in all it was more fun than being beaten with a baseball bat and having a bag of cats dumped on your head, less fun than most other stuff. Would I do it again? Maybe.
