Start Time: 6:45
End Time: 2:45

Lets get started!
Early morning was worthy of two sweaters and a thermal. However, shorty after starting and entering the trees the sweat began to flow and the weather was completely enjoyable! Trail conditions in the morning were nice and cold so the sporadic snow that was on the trail was hard and frozen over, making it very easy to pass through. Continuing on the way up the trail was a bit easier to figure out in tough areas due to the muddy tracks through the frozen ice. All together on the way up, very easy to follow and very self explanatory.

Reaching the saddle was a great place to rest really giving you a great view of what lies ahead and what you have already accomplished. Leaving the saddle was a very rocky uphill battle that was very soon congratulated with the summit. If there is ONE thing I can tell you about the summit of Humphreys is.....BRING BUG SPRAY! It was one the most miserable summits I have sat on due to the amount of gnats and flies. If it wasn't for the never ending view of earth that was only stopped by the curvature at the horizon, I would have been thoroughly disappointed about hanging out at the top. (I take it all back! It was amazing and a great accomplishment just like I had imagined. The views were breathtaking!)... but BRING BUG SPRAY, OR A LASER, OR A MACHETE! They were horrible! Something that was also a bit weird was the fact that I didn't see a bench mark on top either?! hmmm.

Coming down shaves hours off your trip due to the trail being in great condition and not too challenging or hard to find. Again, like going up we followed the muddy tracks through the snow that was left on the trail. The only thing was, this time, it was of course later in the day and the snow was beginning to get soft and this is where we began to see 2ft holes where people have stepped in and sank down. My boots by the end of the day were wet and muddy but in no way did it call for any snow equipment. ( The day before we went to the trailhead to check it out and get a feel for where we were hiking and a gentleman was coming down who was in for business and said that "it was the hardest thing he has ever done in his life and they sank in the snow up to their knees", did we experience any of that? No, we got there early and came physically prepared. Just make sure when you decide to do Humphreys have a few smaller ones under your belt for practice.)

Overall, great hike and conditions were as predicted. Bring water proof boots, sunscreen, and plenty of bug spray!

Up to Peak 5024 then over to Flatiron. Found a broken kite up top. If you think it would be so fun/cool to fly your kite off the top of Flatiron, be fun/cool and take it back down so I don't have to.

Longer than we thought. Backpacked in and stayed the night. HUGE open area. Great running water for boiling and RAMEN! Got back in about 3 hours. you think you have passed it, until you practically fall onto the old foundation. BEAUTIFUL

Very fast hike. I would say close to a Camelback but possibly easier. Scree chute gets tricky.
