The Point Bonita Lighthouse was closed. We hiked as far as we could and turned around. We continued to explore the area. My sister and I finished the day by eating local seafood and enjoying the Ghirardelli Chocolate shop.
On the drive back to Phoenix, I stopped back by my daughters house. I had a puzzle surprise for her.

I should have done my research. I was invited on this trip by a group of friends. I opted out of doing any of my own research. Long story short, I would rather of hiked this trail over driving it. Im not much into the harder 4x4 trails. My truck is built more for hiking and camping. I could have thrown my gear in my friends truck and hiked the trail while they drove it.
Overall, It is a very beautiful area. We ended up camping 2 nights on the trail.
I spent the last 2 days of the trip at my daughters house in 29 Palms.

I packed up camp and went on a couple short hikes. I first hiked from the campsite to the beginning of the Gorge Trail. I then hiked up to Triple Falls then back down to the Ponytail Falls. The Gorge Trail had a lot of different colored wildflowers. The Triple Falls trail was a bit strenuous.
On the way back to Arizona, I stopped by my cousins house in Northern California. It was cherry season, and they had no problem putting me to work.

I headed down to Silver Falls State Park to finish the 10 falls trail. Dogs are not allowed, so I wasnt able to finish the trail, 2 years ago. I added some of the perimeter trails on my way back. Well worth the visit.

My cousin and I ended up spending the next two nights at Deschutes River State Park. Its a really nice park as long as you can handle all the Canadian Geese poop. The goslings where adorable. We hiked the River trail to the Ferry Springs Trail then back. We also added 1.5 miles on the Rock Pile Trail, that is across the river. It was a nice cool down hike after Hood.

A cousin invited me out for a Mount Hood summit. This would be her 42nd high point to my 40th. She arrived a week earlier, and met some experienced climbers in the parking lot. The next day was clear, so they offered to take her up. She was able to summit a week before I got there. She felt bad doing the hike, but planned on doing another summit when I got there.
The weather showed promise on the 11th, so I met her there on the 10th. I geared up and played around on some hills near the parking lot. I headed to bed early with a planned start time around midnight. I ended up starting at 2am. The weather was extremely cold. . At this point, I was guessing a 10% chance of making the summit. If I make it to hogsback, I would call it a win. There was a lot of snow on the ground, 25F at timberlodge, 3F on Mount Hood, and some fresh snow on the ground.
Knowing my cousin was going to catch me quickly, I left 90 minutes before her. I did end up off trail near the start, which killed some time. She caught up to me, long before the last Ski lift. At this point she was getting cold, and didn't want to go any further. She was a bit worried about me, so I came up with a plan. As long as I felt comfortable going up, and somebody was climbing up behind me, I would continue. It took me 10 hours to get the top. It was a bit chilly and windy at the top, so I didnt stay long. Overall I felt great. My body/legs where feeling amazing, it was the elevation that was kicking my pumpkin. Sometimes, while ascending, I would only take a few steps, before I had rest again... This would have driven my cousin crazy. She is a bit younger and in better shape. It was best she was able to summit the week prior. Overall, an amazing hike with perfect weather. I didnt have any wind except on the summit. With a late descent, the snow was mostly still frozen, which helped me out a lot. There where some clouds that came through at lower elevations that made for some low visibility.

Great weather for a mid day hike. There where snow flurries throughout the hike. Only once did the sun peak out for a few minutes. Camped on the dry lake bed that evening(bucket list item achieved.) The bright moon light hindered my night shots. I packed up around 3am to head toward Mount Hood.

I spent my birthday weekend at my daughters house in 29 Palms. She had picked out this trail for the birthday hike. Weather was great. I did pack heavy for the extra workout. 32lb weighted vest plus the backpack.

This is a combination of 7 trips into Skyline Regional Park. From January 18 through April 26th. I used these trips to help get in better shape for Mount Hood this Spring.
My pack ranged from 36lbs to 45lbs. Average 4.22 Miles @ 830ft gain.

Another cold morning. We woke up to 17F. This was an easy hike until the end. The ascent to the final cave is a little rough. A lot of loose rock and sand. It was 24F when we got back to the truck.
