| no partners | | My original plan for this hike, was to hike to the visitors center via Ocean Pearl trail(from the NC boarder)and the Sand ridge trail. I would then hike the smaller trails on the way back. When I realized it would be 7 miles to the visitors center, not 3.5, I decided to change my route.
While hiking toward the Visitors Center, I noticed I wasnt really enjoying the area as much as I could. The Sand Ridge Trail was a sandy trail, with out any views of the ocean. If Im walking in sand, outside of the Southwest, I want views of the ocean!! Knowing I was going to take the Sand Ridge trail back to my truck, I decided to hike along the beach. Overall it was a great hike with awesome weather and views.... I never did make it to the visitors center.
There is some history along these trails. There is an old cemetery, ruins of an old church, and an old survery marker from the 1700s. |
