| partners | | This was a great hike for my first triplog post! I was really happy to be a part of this fantastic outing in the Sierra Ancha Wilderness with Grasshopper, Oregon Hiker, trekkin gecko, mnlumberjack and minermike.
This very remote and scenic area has a lot to offer with sweeping views of Cherry Creek and rugged depths of Deep Creek in addition to some old abandoned uranium mines. There was a lot of evidence of deer, javalina and coyote that frequent the area. Our off trail route covered a variety of terrain with patches of thick brush, manzanita, catclaw and loose shale rock in many places. Deep Creek had pools of water scattered along the exposed bedrock.
We were lucky enough to see a band of perhaps a dozen Coatimundi along the opposite canyon side while traversing our way down into Deep Creek. Some in our group were faster on the camera than others...you'll notice I do not have a photo of the band!
This was my first time into this beautiful area but it will not be my last. There is a lot more to explore out there.. |
