I started having a killer headache right at bedtime for some reason, did not get a good night sleep at all. Next day started out great, but soon some low clouds moved right along the ridge chasing me for about 45 min. and finally caught me. Temps dropped to upper 30s(I believe) the wind was soon whipping and it even began to sleet! Visibility was down to 30 ft or so, lost the cairns several times. Only one spot really confused me though, where the trail disappears onto a smooth and quite steep(and now slippery with sleet) area of rock of at least 100+ yards(above Hog Canyon maybe??) Finally figured out after 20 minutes this is where you must do a little climb up/over the ridge within a small hard to find slot(in low visibility anyhow) This was a great hike that I hope to do again sometime when visibility allows me to actually SEE the wonderful(so I've heard) views!! |
