I don't normally post my trips but I figured I had to for this one. I knew this hike was going to be very hard. It met my expectations and exceeded them by far. This hike definitely requires a lot of endurance. I am in, what I consider, pretty good shape. This one really tested my limits, both physically and mentally.

I knew it would be mentally challenging because I really don't like heights :scared: . However, I love to hike and I love to challenge myself. :PMIC: A lot of times I end up saying to myself "Why did I agree to do this???". I always remind myself of the sense of accomplishment I'll have in the end and keep pushing through : rambo : . This one required a lot of self motivation and a lot of motivation from my hiking partner aka my husband. I would NEVER make it through a hike like this without him :thanx: .

I was surprised at how physically challenging this hike was for me :wlift: . Like I said, I consider myself to be in pretty good shape. There were a couple of times on this hike when I had to push myself to my physical limits. There is so much up and down. There were a couple of times we came to a hill and I was speechless ](*,) . I couldn't believe what I was putting myself through!!! The down is not easy in a lot of parts either. Sometimes the down was worse than the up. The mountain is just crumbling underneath your feet :scared: . We came from Carney TH so we had to come down Siphon Draw. That's bad enough when you haven't hiked across the entire mountain. I was SO glad to be on flat ground!!!

I'm really glad I did this hike but I don't know if I'll be doing it again in the near future. I'll have to give my memory some time to fade :sl:. We do have to do this hike again because, unfortunately, I erased my GPS track before I saved it!!! My hiking partner also forgot the battery to his DSLR. The poor guy had to carry the camera all day but couldn't use it. I'm glad to say I did this one and I do have a huge sense of accomplishment!!! :y: We also got to meet Trekkin Gecko and Johnlp. They flew by us going up to Boulder Saddle on their way to Peak 5057. Then we saw them again on their way down. You two are machines!!! :worthy: It's always nice to meet and see fellow HAZers on the trail!!! 8)

Why do I do these things to myself??? I don't like climbing and I'm scared to death of heights. So why in the world would I choose to hike to Peak 5057??? Probably because my head needs to be examined... Or I like to challenge myself and break out of my comfort zone. I'll go with the second one but my hiking partner may disagree ;) .

I'm glad I did this one but it really did test me mentally :scared: . These types of hikes are always the most rewarding though and I always have a huge sense of accomplishment afterward. Every time I do a hike like this I get a little more confident. As always, a big thanks to my hiking partner for pulling me to the top :) .

The only downside of the day was that I tripped and fell down the trail on the way back. The damage wasn't too bad though. My knee took the most of it but my shoulder is also pretty sore too. I made it back down with the help of an improvised hiking stick. Once again thanks to my creative hiking partner. I'm sure I'll be just fine and back on the trail in no time : rambo : .

We were going to do the Dripping Springs Super Loop but I knew it would be pretty warm outside so we opted for the shorter loop hike. We didn't actually go to Charlebois but rather went directly to the Bluff Springs Trail. We saw A LOT of people headed to Charlebois along that section of the Dutchman Trail. We probably saw the most people we saw all day along that portion of the loop. We also ran across a couple camping right on the trail near La Barge Spring as was also described in the trip description :sl: . Needless to say it was a busy weekend in the Supes but we were able to find a little solitude in some areas. We found a nice shady area a little ways from Whiskey Spring where we had lunch. It was nice to get out of the sun on this hot day. I hope it doesn't stay this warm. I'm not ready for summer!!! We went to Bluff Spring and it was flowing pretty good. We were able to get some good shots of Barkley Basin on the way back to the TH. I like coming down cardiac hill in the afternoon so much better than going up it in the morning :) .

This was our first overnight backpacking trip into the Supes. We've seen some good camping spots while on our many other hikes through the Supes so we had a few ideas of where we wanted to go. It seemed that a lot of good spots were along the Dutchman Trail so we decided to head on down the Dutchman and see where it took us. We started off from the First Water TH around 9:30. After hiking about 6 miles with 30+ pounds on my back I was ready to stop for the day around 1:00. We stopped at a nice spot below Bluff Spring Mountain and wandered around the rest of the day. That night we had a small fire and a little food and spirits ;) . It was not too cold so it was a nice night to be out. The next morning we set out around 10:00 after some morning pictures and breakfast. Against my better judgment we decided to take the Bull Pass Trail on up to the pass and then to the top of Black Top Mesa. As always I was glad we went to the top once we got there. The views of Weavers Needle are great!!! Then it was time for the long hike back to the First Water TH. It seemed like it took forever but we finally made it back. I've never been so happy to end a hike. I always like camping out but I'm sure glad to have a nice hot shower and a cold beer when I'm done. It makes you appreciate the small things in life :y:
