My buddy Brian had never done Browns and I thought it would be a good one for him. We had a great hike up and back however it was extremely busy. Interesting to see the area post burn. Overall the trail is still in great shape.
I did this one today as a tribute to Samuel Young or syoung here on HAZ. Three years ago today he left us and many of us know that the Flatiron was his favorite hike. He was so fast at it that I used to question if his stats were even real. I witnessed him powering up and blazing back down enough times to know that those times were legit. I think of him almost every time I do the Flatiron and other times as well. I sincerely hope he is in a better place now. This one was for you Sam!
Fun hike with Dr. Frick and Mr. JLP. Nick and I have had this on the radar for quite sometime however we ran into a snag on our last attempt with a flat tire. No issues this trip. Our plan was to do Elephant Head and then Little Elephant Head but we switched up and went over to check out the Quantrell Mine after Elephant Head. Next time we will to the "Two Heads are better than one combo".
John and Kelly are doing the AZT section that starts at Rogers trough. They asked for some help getting to the trail head. We got there a little earlier than expected so I hiked the first 3 miles in with them and then turned back. Hopefully they have an enjoyable trip.
The jeep just got a new transmission so I had to take it for a test run and make sure everything was functioning properly. Barnhart seemed like a perfect place to go. Jeep did great and the hike was awesome. Just went up to the waterfall and then went about a third of the mile past that to take in some good views. Right now water is flowing at the waterfall but it probably will only go for a couple more days as there’s only a little snow left on top.
My buddy Marco and I have been overdue for a hike. We initially planned on doing Haunted Canyon but the chance of rain on a longer hike today put us on Picketpost. He had never done this one before so it was a good alternative. All in all a great trip up and back with no issues.
