First time into Pueblo Canyon-other than seeing the last 2 sets of ruins after returning from Cold Spring Canyon ruins in June and hiking to the lookout. Couldnt get anyone to go with me, so, went at it alone. Arrived the night before, Nov. 28th-tried to sleep under the onslaught of the full moon and managed to get only a few hours. Hike was pretty uneventful-save for the above average temperatures that made me wish I was in shorts and t-shirt. Made pretty good time to the north side-about one hour and 20 minutes. Dissapointed that the waterfall was dry-but that reassured me that I wasnt going to slip on any ice and fall; hurting my pride and probably othere things as well. Was surprised by the number of seeps I encountered on both the south and north sides. Ruins were jmust as I expected-awesome. Got plenty of pics, but my camera and phone both gave up the ghost early on, ending my hopes of getting some REALLY good shots up there. Cant wait to hit Cooper Forks Canyon ruins next...

OK, found the Reynolds Creek Ruins-on the first attempt!!!! Thanks, in part to topo maps, common sense and mostly pics;posted by a few of you guys, right here on HAZ. Got lucky, in that, the morning was cool and partly cloudy from the rain the evening before and the ruins were in fact, exactly where I calculated them to be! No snakes or bears encountered, but we did see what appeared to be bear scat about mid-way on the trail AND in the collapsed side of the ruins! I attemped a pic mimic, but since my color printer was on the fritz, and the B & W pics werent very clear, the end result was some close approximations-without me holding the pic I had wished to mimic. Spent a few hours there, then hiked backed, in the rain. The monsoon Gods were kind to us!

Its not much of a hike, but rather a climb-straight up! Beautiful sceneary and cooler temps; 106 degrees in Tucson, 82 up here. This hike/climb started off on the wrong foot (really); Our German Sheppard, Brune (pronounced Bruna) wondered into the creek, at the head of the falls to get a drink and then couldnt climb out of it, due to the extremely slippery rocks and moss that covered them. We called her repeatedly to come to us, but she just couldnt stop sliding back. The problem was that she was literally one foot from the edge of the falls, having trouble keeping her footing and all of our attempts to pull her out were futile, as we would slip off of the rocks and into the moss and water covered rocks in the creek! If we slipped into the creek, there was nothing to keep us both from going over the falls! We knew this was a dire situation and we could see that she was getting really tired and scared after 30 minutes of trying to hang on!

I raced down the dirt road and found a YMCA camp type place, I told them of our situation and they gave me a rake, so I raced back up the mountain, with the rake, in hopes of being able to grab her leash, which was dangling off the edge of the falls! Just as I got back to the falls, I heard the sound of an ATV behind me on the dirt road-as luck would have it, it was an off-duty firefighter and his young son from Globe out riding around on the dirt roads-and he had a rope! I flagged him down and within minutes he had tied the rope around my waist and he and my friend Noel (the "Salado Indian"), using a tree for leverage, lowered me into the creek, whereupon, I was able to grabe Brune's leash after a few attempts and pull her towards me! I grabbed her leash and then they pulled us both to safety!!! WOW! Thanks firefighter Brian! I got his number and intend to do something nice for him! THEN we climbed up to the ruins!

P.S. did'nt post any pics of the dog with her cool dog backpack on, because she wandered off to the creek and got herself into trouble, before I was able to get any shots of her! She's actually at the edge of the falls, in the pic of the waterfall, with Noel in the background-you just cant make her out in the shot!

We chose the hottest day of the year up to that point, June 1st 2012, to head up to the Sierra Ancha-107 F in Tucson! We spent the night at our camp site, just off Cherry Creek road and about 100 yards shy of the old minning road that leads up to Pueblo Canyon/Canyon Springs ruin and enjoyed the approaching full moon. Got up at 6am and launched for the trail at 7am. We encountered 2 other hikers/campers at the top of the mining road; they were getting ready to head out for Pueblo Canyon ruins. Being a Saturday, I wasnt surprised to see other human beings out there, but we got lucky in that, after reaching Cold Spring Canyon ruins, we had it all to ourselves!

I was however surprised at how quickly we found the "Crack House". We must have been going at a pretty good pace, even in the heat and blazing sun! It felt good at 7am, but not at 8am! another surprise (and a pleasant one at that) was the lack of rattle snakes! I figured we would see at least one coiled up under a tree just off trail, but NO! The tree log ladders were alot easier to ascend than I expected! I wont go on and on about the ruins,as you've already read about them or seen them, but we spent about 2 hours there, got plenty of pics, including some of Cooper Forks Canyon Ruins visible to the east. We headed back down the trail (still no snakes) and headed up towards Pueblo Canyon Ruins. We made it as far as the vista over looking the north rim and got more good pics, then deceided to head back to the camp, due to extreme heat and low water supply. I look forward to PC ruins and CFC ruins soon....
