Did anyone watch the History Channel about the Dutchman last night, and where do you think they were? ;)

Re: At the risk of being branded a lunatic...
The thing that I notice is that they never seemed to be concerned with water, which as any Supes hiker knows is a major concern ... even when they come upon beautiful large pools of water, they never mention it - or show or talk about how & where there are getting drinking water ...

In the first or second show they said they were packing forty gallons of water. However it doesn't seem they've gone a mile from any road yet.

OK, I tuned in to the marathon, and four things irritated me in the first minute. I don't think I can take very much of it.

Yes isn't it amazing how many roads appear in those fast video scans of the areas they are in.joe bartels wrote:However it doesn't seem they've gone a mile from any road yet.

But they sure are concerned about Green Mohave Rattlesnakes... they don't wait for prey to come to them, they aggressively hunt for it. The reason, I guess why they had to shoot it... but be careful, because they're still dangerous for an hour after they're dead!cactuscat wrote:they never seemed to be concerned with water

Re: At the risk of being branded a lunatic...
The Gonzalez map is in most of my Dutchman books. If someone showed me that map (especially that map) in return for a 25% stake, there would be an unpleasant follow-up discussion. Show me something I can't find at in a used book store for $5 or photocopy in the library for a quarter.cactuscat wrote:Pretty sure I've seen that "new" map before in a book! Can't say which one right now, as all my books are in the storage unit ...
Aside from the map itself, I scoff at the notion that years of fruitless searching makes anyone an authority on where the mine could be. They only gain expertise in where it isn't. What would be more valuable is a map of all the ground that has been decisively eliminated.
It looks like the laws of "reality" TV will keep them from actually covering much ground.

Along with the fact that the U.S.F.S. has denied them a permit to film within the Superstition Wilderness itself.big_load wrote:It looks like the laws of "reality" TV will keep them from actually covering much ground.
This from a very trusted source within the local U.S.F.S. office..... Just sayin...

Re: At the risk of being branded a lunatic...
This thread is way better than the show!
I record the train wreck.... so I can FF through most of it, each show may only have about 20 minutes of un-repeated content. The last show.... The drama of the bat guano! holy $hi#! Big babies. That Deal guy has a big pair.... or is really dumb to climb that ladder of unknown structural integrity. :stretch:
Great entertainment right here!

Re: At the risk of being branded a lunatic...
I missed out on the last two episodes online because they were 'locked'... to view them one must verify they have cable TV. So, only having Internet access but not cable, I missed out.
Oh well, it's been entertaining reading the threads on Desert USA and Treasurenet.com... lots of delusional gold hunters out there. If they knew as much as they claim they'd all be millionaires.
