Well the time is fastly approaching and I wanted to get this thread up. 4 months to work up the details, route, firm dates, and water details.
First what dates work for everyone? I will be back to school on January 20 so it would need to be before then. I will need to ask for time off work within the next month or two to get it off work since that of year time is kinda hectic.
Next What route sounds interesting? of course there is the shuttle possibility and hiking east to west, but I was also looking at the possibility of a super loop starting at Peralta going to Reavis and looping back. Also I heard talk of possible routes through canyons. Im sure there are tons of super loop possibilities.
Whats sounds good on mileage? 35-50 if on trail maybe, probably less if we were doing routes off trail?

Much as I'd like to freeze my pumpkin of with you guys, due to a long chain of causality, the stoopid Cardinals won the pathetic NFC west, so consequently, I have no clear hiking days in early January. (My employer s a vendor to the U of Phoenix Stadium). So it goes.

Re: Trans-supes hike early January
Im calling this official, meet at 7:00 am at Tyler's place and we leave and set up the shuttle from there. We've got a pretty good group of 5 coming along for this, and it is sure to be a lot of fun! See you all tomorrow!

I am packed and ready to rock. I went and picked up a new rain cover for my pack as well as a set of gators. Looks like rain is going to be inevitable...hopefully it's timing isn't to bad.

Passed these guys yesterday near Reavis Ranch. Hopefully they fared better today than the Reavis/Campaign group did....

Re: Trans-supes hike early January
We had a CODE RED bailout at Totroilla Trail Head. We were FREEZING cold, soaked to the bone, and hitch hiked back to town. We had a great night in Angel Basin though, got a good fire going, stayed up until about 9:30 and then it started to rain around 3 am. The rain stopped at 7am and we packed up hoping the rain was done. WRONG! We got absolutely soaked bucshwacking on the JF Trail (trail being a lose term!) and then it started to rain before we made it to Tortilla Pass...it only got worse from there and enough is enough when the dog doesn't even want to get up after a break.

All and all a fun trip though. Good times. We just went from Tule to Tortilla Road, instead of Tule to First Water as originally planned.

Re: Trans-supes hike early January
Ya the Campaign and Pinto trails definitely fell under that "trail being a loose term" category. Perhaps we'll have to organize a couple of trips to go out on these Eastern Supes trails with some chainsaws and clear them up
Definitely glad to hear you guys made it out totally safe and sound though like us. Gonna have to start working on getting my hiking callouses back after doing 5 miles with my boots soaked.....don't think my feet have ever been so sore in my life ><
