3 day 2 night backpacking trip

Post by scott hane »

My buddies and I are trying to plan out a 3 day 2 night backpacking trip. We are going at the end of June so we would like to go somewhere in the Flag, Sedona, Prescott, Payson area. Anywhere cooler than the valley and not as far as the Grand Canyon. We have done smaller one day trips and do some difficult hikes. We're looking for something challenging. Somewhere between 17-25 miles round trip maybe, filterable water access, we have repelling gear as well. Please let me know if you have any suggestions. Thanks

Wet Beaver Creek might be a option.

West clear creek!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! After reading all the triplogs on West Clesr Creek I would suggest starting on the Tramway or Maxwell trail. That has been my preference. I believe it is a prettier and cooler way to access the canyon. If you don't have time to hike all the way to the Bullpen area you will have, in my opinion, been to the best part of the canyon.
