2012! Chaco/Bisti Expedition
Just putting this up on the calendar for consideration. Chaco Canyon camping with exploration of ruins in and outside of the canyon, with hiking in the Bisti/De-Na-Zin Wilderness as well. More details as this draws closer.

Re: 2012! Chaco/Bisti Expedition
I'll be on work travel that week and I have other stuff in July, so it's not looking good for me.

Re: 2012! Chaco/Bisti Expedition
Rob/Larry/et al;
See a 6/20 date listed - that's a Wednesday. Talking with some of the "usual suspects", a 3 day weekend is "doable". Solstice is interesting, but "been there, done that". Are we fixed on the mid-week solstice, or is a 3 day weekend more amenable?

I'm fine with whatever. My weekends are going to be variable. I'm in Page at the moment - will have days off info tomorrow or the next with which to plan.

Weekends off aren't happening, especially since I'm taking the following 2 weeks off for wedding, family meetup, and training.

Re: 2012! Chaco/Bisti Expedition
Doesn't look like Chaco 2012 is going to happen. Can maybe twist my arm to make a mid-week "bake-out" at Moonhouse happen => http://hikearizona.com/decoder.php?ZTN=15887
Thoughts?

@Randal Schulhauser
Heading up there wed. stopping either in am. for keet seel orientation if they will let me do it for the next day or getting the 3:30 orientation and going to Moon house and then House of Fire (Probably in the dark on the way back) that day. If they let me do the am. orientation I'm doing another longer hike in the area as well. Either camping at one of the trail heads or driving back and camping at Navajo NM. and doing Keet Seel as a day hike Thurs. Pm me if your interested.

Randal's idea would be high on my list, too, if the timing weren't off.

Re: 2012! Chaco/Bisti Expedition
Looks like the only possibility for me is to front-end or back-end the mid-week July 4th holiday...

@Rob del Desierto
Why yes I do. I was all over the place the last two days where did you see it?
If it looks like it hadn't had a bath in several years well it hasn't. I assume you saw the HAZ sticker. It's also got a little white mountain goat.
Or even crazier yet, you were the truck that turned onto snowflat road right before me. The truck turned off either for a trailhead or out of fear of the dirty Nissan with the wild eyed sleep deprived driver at the wheel. I only mention this scenario because after I drove by I thought to myself "that looks an awful lot like Pagerob's truck.
I just got back from a two day whirl Wind utah/N. Az. hike when I get a chance outing. I'm pretty lucky to be alive and have my truck with the two horses hanging out in the middle of the road (anti lock break test) before Mexican Hat and the cow I narrowly missed (high speed maneuvering test) between Kayenta and Navajo NM @1:00am this morning. I'm happy to say it passed both tests.

Sounds like playing fighter pilot has paid off.....

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty & well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, totally worn out & proclaiming, "Wow What a Ride!"

You passed my truck on the way to Moonhouse. I pulled off to the side - you dropped on down the hill.
