Now on the road back home. This is Gruene. Wendy knew about it as she had set up a mini-convention for her small company. Anyway, a cute place where we walked around as the town is pretty small but a lot of bang for the buck.

Gruene is a Texas Tradition
H.D. Gruene's historic house was built in 1872 and not much has changed since.
Situated on the Guadalupe River in the quickly-growing community of New Braunfels, Texas, Gruene has been gently resisting change since 1872. Nestled just below the Gruene Water Tower sits The Gruene Mansion Inn next door to Gruene Hall, Gristmill, fine dining restaurants and the best nightlife around.

Deep in tradition, the mansion was one of the first buildings in Gruene, in 1872. The Gruene Mansion Inn began as H.D. Gruene's historic Eastlake Victorian home and cotton plantation. All our accommodations are century-old barns and homes restored to our own Victorian Rustic Elegance - A combination of antiques, fine fabrics, and handmade furniture. Every room has a unique character and offers details such as clawfoot tubs and deep pedestal sinks.
