In the left photo, it looks like I may have photoed a critter of some sort. Anyway, up at the top after we rounded the site, there is this. I think it is their Prairie Dog town.

Prairie dogs are burrowing, social rodents belonging to the squirrel family (Scuiridae), native to the grasslands of North America. They are known for living in large colonies called "towns" and are named for their dog-like warning calls. These herbivorous animals are considered a keystone species because their complex burrow systems and grazing habits significantly impact the prairie ecosystem, benefiting other grassland species.
