Beautiful mountain penstemon is trying to cover the mountainside. The remnants of the 2003 fire and Heavens and McPartland Peaks in the background. I am always drawn to the sculpting of the side of McPartland Peak on the left. The 2003 was the Park's largest fire; the Granite Park Chalet was almost lost. Ranger Mike who we got to see in 2011 when he talked about this, would also be at the Chalet today and I got to visit with him when we got back.
