It must be down in the wash, off trail. I didn't venture off trail so didn't get to see it. Drat! Pretty trail winds around a ridge, easy going for the most part. About halfway through I cross paths with a group of quail who quickly scurry away. Now I am at the section where Black Mountain looms directly in front of you. Had an idea I'd hike that one today too, not enough time but I'll come back. Towards the latter part of the hike I looked up and to my right perhaps fifty feet away was a deer. Wow. All I wanted to do at that point was get a good pic of him. He cooperated just a bit by moving parallel to the trail for perhaps five minutes. I followed him camera always ready taking a bunch of shots but don't think I got a good one. He bounded across the trail in front of me, all the while seemingly unafraid of my presence. That was neat. So rare to see one on the trail. Beautiful hike. Really easy for the most part. Surprised with my time back at the car. 2 hrs 8 min r/t. |
