Hadn't done this hike in over a year so I had forgotten how tough it really is. Time plays this game on my memory and I remember hikes as easier than they really are - or maybe I'm just getting old. Muscles fine on the climb, cardio sucked - a lot of 50 and stop. Almost 3 hours to the top. On the way down I had some inner thigh cramping - heat, hydration and electrolytes - worked through it. A slight upper right back side cramp, probably from the downclimbing & twisting. Stretched and it went away. Felt some pack muscles in the shoulders and upper back so I iced when I got home. Glad I challenged myself with this hike. Lots of brittlebush and desertmallow still in bloom. |
