New Mexico, the land of enchantment, and the climbing area known as Enchanted Towers.
Curtis, Liz and I left the valley a little later than we had planned but we were on our way... Just then I receive a phone call from the rest of our party; they had left to get an early start! "We've broken down past Payson, on our way to Show Low" and thus our adventure began! I have to say about one year ago I accompanied my significant other and climbing master, Jeff, to this same area. I was brand new and struggled to climb some of the easier 8's and 9's I wasn't even secure in my belaying technique... Funny (ironically) that this would be the first time I ran into him since we parted ways.

GULP, I was struggling... I had to get down NOW, how embarrassing! I wished I was leading an 11 or at least climbing strong... Then I remembered I was just attempting to follow a 12a, at a place I was falling on 8's a year ago. It was okay, I may not be a 12 climber but over the past year I have improved greatly, and have met amazing people along the way!
I warned Liz that this place is HARD a very strength based "jug haul" area. It was my main goal to watch, learn and to follow some really challenging routes! I did. This is a majestic area and a great place to practice some photo techniques. Liz and I had a blast and I learned a lot. We also enjoyed blue grass by a campfire and I shared my tent with a dog... with altitude sickness! 
On this trip, despite adversity and above all, I was grateful for the special people I go and to share it with (and of course AAA plus!  ) |

I don't have a computer… Not because I'm against having one. Really just hasn't been a top priority on my gear list.
