That being said I will touch the important parts ,when they say take 2 gallons for the round trip its not an exaggeration, when they say leave early do it, this hike is about heat (avoiding heat) we cached some water, next time I would make 2 chaches (the weight of the water is murder) The ruins are incredible, the sky at night is breathtaking, the canyons are fantastic. A few notes on my photos, I knew the skys were extremely blue this particular weekend, many of these photos look like they have photoshopped skys in them but I assure they were not altered other than altering brightness and contrast, also the vegetation and flowers look abnormally bright for the desert, again I assure you that the entire canyon was very lush (they must have had a wet summer) I took the liberty of altering 2 photos substantially from original because I though everyone would enjoy them, one was converted to black and white and the other is a hybrid B&W/Color which I thought kind of linked the present to the past. This trip was something I put on my hike list 18 years ago, I made a big mistake waiting this long to go. If your thinking of going to Keet Seel you won't be dissapointed (don't wait 18 years) |
