| no partners | | Although this is dated 4/18 some of my photos were taken on a hike to the same place on 11/7/09 We got up early and drove from the valley. weather was good starting to get warm but not too warm. the hike up was pretty normal, a few cactus spines as usual, and the manzanita was starting to get thick, I think it had been beaten back in November. this ruin has its own unique features, 3 levels with roof/floors intact. they were so solid that you couldnt tell when you were on rock or floors. this ruin was built to maximize as much existing crevice/ cave structure as possible. they were able to get maximum square feet per effort put out. well worth the time and effort. and a must see for anyone working on all the cherry creek ruins. wild life was at a minimum, although the usual black tailed rattlesnake was encountered again. we have seen so many black tails that we even passed up stopping to see a second one on the drive out. |
