Unfortunately on the way down Muesli tore a pad. He was limping and I checked his paw for a burr and found a quarter size flap of his skin hanging from his pad. 
Removed with the multi-tool and cleaned. He was willing to walk, but I put him on my shoulders and he rode there for the last 1.5 miles. 
It was kind of like wearing a wool scarf. 
Let him walk the last 200 yards to let him save face in case there were any other dogs in the parking lot.
