Geology speaking...its like the rest of the areas travertine except that the water pouring out created a domelike structure. In talking with the Chubbtaggers, I heard several stories of curses and floods. Some of these men won't visit that side of the river and others have and do. The Grandcanyon trekers(sp) advise not to visit the Sipapuni or the Salt mines. Personally, I feel people need to make the choice themselves. Just like any place, treat it with respect. I was bummed my personal floatation device was flat on the morning of the trip. I watched as the PVD Teva,PVD Eagle, and PVD 206 launched into the milky LCR for their journey. Meanwhile, I'd be hiking and missing out on freezing cold water, sharp rocks, and violent rapids. No one would give up their ships. Joe had a multi-color with handles, Joel had a little fish raft and mesh raft, and The Eagle was sporting white with dots. The hike was brutal thru catclaw, fragmites, guicksand, sharp rocks, cliff ledges, and a 1/4 mile swim. It took almost 4 hours to go 1.5 miles. The whole LCR area is an ugly place and I don't think anyone should go there.
