| partners | | At light speed we reached the LCR gorge and peered down on the blue/white water from our perch high above. Camp Chumley was pleasant with just a brief shower to dampen the mood.
The next day we set down the trail, and DOWN is apt, since the trail drops fairly steeply off the rim. Quickly enough we reached the river and set up camp. I launched the SS Nonot, a fine ship, as Chumley broke a bottle of champagne over the bow and Sideshow Bob sang a few minutes of the HMS Pinafore. Unfortunately my craft quickly sank and I had to walk the rest of the way on foot. The colors of the water are interesting, or else I hit my head too hard trying to run the rapids in a float toy!
Temperatures were pleasant, so said the snake that found Chumley's boot home that night. We made it out the next morning in 3 hours, a half hour less than it took to go down. This trail is bizarre going both up and down.
Thanks for driving and the invite Chums and good to see you again Bob! |

Salt Trail Canyon |
Medium flow |
Medium flow |
| | At the bottom it was flowing clear, but likely too mineralized to drink. The next half mile downstream there are another 5 clear springs, likely all mineralized.
Note: Salt Canyon itself was dry the entire way, except for the pothole. | | _____________________
