| no partners | | I don't know the name, or if there is a name for the area I was in, but it is real close to Praying Hands. The weather was beautiful and the air was clean and fresh. The rains the night before had washed the Mountains and the Desert floor clean. I started from the CC trail head and headed straight up a small single track that paralleled a ravine, it meandered for a few hundred feet and then intersects a rather large wider path. That path I believe goes straight down to the smaller parking area before the Large Cross Cut parking area. I was at the Orange boundary fence within 30 mins and 20mins form then,I reached the 1st of the 3 "columns" to the East of Praying Hands. I scouted around that area for awhile, and admired the runoff from the rains. I had done a similar hike just 2 days prior and it looked like a completely different place with renewed freshness from the much needed water.
I climbed up higher to an area with lots of small falls and runoff stains and sat on a rather large slab that hung over a wash. I brewed several cups of Dandelion Tea and a cup of noodles with Tabasco. I ate my lunch and watched the Dark Gray Clouds roll across the Mountain top and collapse into a foggy Vapor as they hit the warmer updrafts. I cleaned up my pick-nick spot and headed across the ledge back toward Praying hands. I decide about halfway between Praying Hands and the "Columns" to turn back and return the same way I had come. I was down to about 200ml of H20 and wanted to be sure I made it back to the Truck with time to spare for a Dinner date with my Father.
I had a blast all and all, each time I venture out I am amazed how beautiful the Arizona Deserts are, and how lucky we are to live here. I can't wait to go out again and try the entire Praying Hands Loop.
