But since my wife was still feeling it a little bit from her cold last week and the weather seemed a bit daunting to go that far north, we decided to take a ride to Cave Creek to see some Indian ruins and maybe some snow. We got lucky on both counts.
Along the way up there there were the usual city dwellers who almost never make it out to the wilderness pulled off the sides of the road the second snow appeared. The parking lot actually wasn't too full and we got a space very quickly. The lot was covered with snow, which had mostly melted by the time we were done. One guy I talked to in the parking lot said it had just been snowing there about an hour earlier and it had the consistency of Dippin' Dots, which we noticed as we made our way along the trail.
The views up on the hill by the ruins were outstanding especially because of the snow and weather to the east. Very good call to change plans and see some snow in the desert while we had the chance. |
