Went south on Stapelveldt Trail through a beautiful canyon full of redwoods. Very muggy, which I guess is good for these giants. Took the Ben Johnson Trail south to Dipsea Trail (site of the famous yearly race). Back up Dipsea to a beautiful lookout to enjoy the fog rolling through the Golden Gate and over the San Francisco Peninsula. Continued to enjoy the view as Dipsea headed west towards the coast before it dipped into the thick forest of alternating Douglas fir and redwood groves. Took Dipsea all the way to Stinson Beach. There's something cool about taking a break at a beach. Headed back up to Pantoll on the Matt Davis Trail, and was reminded how cool that trail is. Saw a grip of Pacific banana slugs. Great weather, and even better views! |
