What do Ben Hogan,Hulk Hogan, and Bob Crane all have in common?
None of them would want this trail named after them.

I researched the "trail" and only found a blurb from the 2006 AZ Republic. So my next inclination was to message my friend from across The Pond. Of course he had been there...Did I really need to ask the question?. He said he was there in the 1980's and it was a lovely faint trail filled with catsclaw.

I said goodbye to my 107 pound pouting baby pup and I was off. The drive into the sun was not very pleasant. I arrived at the TH about an hour off schedule..due to oversleeping.
I decided not to drive fr 602 and opted to go up the drainage and then up to the road. It was a little cooler in the drainage in the am. I then bushwacked over to cut off some of the trail and road which on the way back I decided to stay on the road... and the trail was actually nice there( the only nice part).

The area is pretty cool if you can overlook the catsclaw...Its hard to avoid unless you're in the creek bed which I stayed in sometimes for miles.Goat Spring Camp is decent...moving along. On the way to Six bar ranch, I came across a corral with hay and a bunch of firewood maybe setting up an Easter petting zoo and bonfire.

The trip over to Hogan Cabin was almost worth the blood loss. Its pretty cool and there is also a trail which also was a 4wd road(faint for about 1/4 mile) probably back in the Model T days. Hogan also had a spring which was pretty weak compared of some of the others.

Parts of the middle fork of Squaw Creek were my favorite. It was like I blinked and was transformed to Wet Beaver Creek. I also checked out Jack's Gulch on the return....yawn. All in all, I'd go back with Firehose pants and much cooler weather. Maybe in another 30 years.
