| no partners | | A 3 and half minute video with my camera https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IykjREBKUCY
I also took lots of other film with a super small video camera which will become part of a documentary Mike is working on.
I met Team Armstrong at the Mt. Peeley TH about 7am. It took some time to get everything ready and we left about 745. I decided I'd start out as the trail sweeper and film man. The first obstacle I came across was a swam of bees just off of the trail. I backtracked and warned the others. No issues and I didn't notice them when I ran by on my return trip the next day.
We stopped for a photo op at the portable wilderness sign. Shortly after this, I began to lead Mike. I didn't realize how mentally challenging it would be to lead a blind person. I had picked up the lingo in the first few miles. Chunky rocks, rollers, slide off to right, tree on left, cactus on right,stop...tree blocking the trail...step high and on and on and on. Did I make mistakes? Yes...Did his partners who have hiked over 400 miles with him still make mistakes? Yes...
Looking forward to getting back on trail with Mike. It will just be me and him for a couple of days.

On the way back I cached some water for an upcoming GpsJoe search. |
