| no partners | | | I recently hiked Havasu Falls near Seligman, AZ. An epic trip, probably my top rated backpacking trip thus far. You start out at the top of the canyon ~5,500ft and quickly hike down to the bottom of the canyon which is ~1.5mi and 3,000ft (loss of 2,500). From there it is 8 miles to the village of Supai where there is a restaraunt, store, post office, etc. From there the Havasu Falls campgrounds is ~2miles. If you continue past Havasu falls you'll come to Mooney Falls, a 200 ft waterfall. This is truly amazing. The hike down to the bottom of Mooney Falls is probaly like nothing you've ever seen. You travel through caves cut out by miners they use a series of chains, and step ladders to get to the bottom. Beaver Falls is the next waterfall after that and it's 2 miles from Mooney Falls. I strongly recommend that you visit Beaver Falls. From there you can continue on and follow the river to see it exit and run into the colorado. Overall the hike is not too strenuous and I would recommend this hike to anyone. |
