Where do I begin? We stayed in Seligman the night before the hike at the Stage Coach 66. Don't expect anything other than a place to rest your head. We drove up the way in search for a place to eat dinner and decided on the Roadkill Cafe. The food was good and the drinks were cold, I would recommend it.
We woke up the next morning and made the drive to the TH. There was a slight overcast and it made for a terrific hike down to the village. Upon arriving we proceeded to check into the lodge were we would be staying. The room was very clean and a definate upgrade from the Stage Coach 66 in Seligman.
After getting settled into our room we decided to venture out and get a little taste of what we had in store for the next days adventure. We were pleasantly surprised to have seen the two new falls created from the flood in 2008 (Upper & Lower Rock Falls) only 2 miles from the Village.
The second day started off with a trek down to Havasu Falls where the kids & I swam & played in the large pool below the fall. I also decided to take a 5 break on a hammock that was stretched over one of the blueish/green pools. We then continued our way down towards the campground and was pleasantly surprised by all the nice places to throw a camp up (we are camping next year). Soon after the campground we heard the thunderous sound of water in the near distance and knew we were approaching Mooney Falls. There was no way I wasn't going to go down. With some of the group left behind (up top) we didn't spend alot of time down at Mooney.
On the day of departure (helicopter) we got up early, packed up, ate breakfast and went to sign in and wait for our ride out back to the hilltop. The helicopter starts taking people in/out at 10:00am, but be prepared to wait. we were the third group on the list and being that they fly the tribe members and venders on a priority over the visitors/tourists we actually got on the bird at 1:55pm.
This truly was a great place to be. My family thoroughly enjoyed our time and will never forget it. AWESOME!!!
