I did this one today and really enjoyed it. I only saw on small group of people the whole way which surprised me. The weather was perfect if not a little warm. After starting out up the canyon I saw a few Javalina but no other wildlife the whole trip. The trees were changing colors and there was a few really cool trees with red leaves. The last mile of the Loy Trail gets a little overgrown but otherwise it is in great shape.
As for the Secret Mountain Trail I don't know who has been up there working but they have done an amazing job. There must have been countless hours put into cutting trees and Manzanita all along the way. The cuts look fairly fresh. Secret Cabin was cool to see and then there are some great views a couple miles after it. Beyond that there really isn't much reason to follow the trail to its end. Overall a great hike and I enjoyed the solitude. I got a much needed mind cleanse. |
