| no partners | | I woke up at 4am with a splitting headache and decided to go back to sleep. When I next woke up I felt much better. I arrived at the TH about 830am so I needed to scale back my plans for the day. The ride in took longer than usual because of the snow and ice. I had planned on coming up the backside of Sheep and then going down a ravine on the south side. I ended up going up from Sheep Creek and then taking the ridgeline over to Mt. Peeley. No clues.
When I reached the summit of Sheep, I became pretty emotional looking at the register and then I thought of our first search and the friendships I made that day and on other days out there.
When I was almost to the Peeley summit, I saw Mountain lion prints and then seconds later I heard a noise and a pile of snow and ice fell. My heart was racing....I finished climbing up the snowy rock and wondered what it was...I looked at the summit register that Preston put on Peeley and noticed Yancy had signed it. Yancy was one of Mike Armstrong's guides.
As I was descending Peeley, I saw two whitetails and sighed a relief.
There was snow on the ridgeline and on the northside...in spots as much as 6 inches.
The weather was overcast all day until the sun popped out when I was Sheep. |
