| no partners | | Into the Blue... The Blue Range Primitive Area that is. This is another hike in Scott S. Warrens book "100 Classic Hikes in Arizona". I am glad it is too because there is NO WAY I would have ever known about it. It is tucked away about 30 miles South-East of Alpine Arizona. Those rare few who have hiked this area I am sure can attest to its beauty.
The trail was pretty easy to follow and was extremely well signed. I climbed up the stairs of the Bear Mountain Lookout but it is currently unoccupied. Great views from up there except the tops of the trees are almost as tall as the tower! The Largo trail on the return was especially nice with just enough tree cover. I really enjoyed the whole hike to be honest!
This is one to do again in the early fall or late summer. I bet it is just amazing when it greens up a bit. I didn't notice much in the way of burn areas except for one spot on the Largo Trail. I think that was from a previous fire however because I had seen it in pictures that were dated prior to 2011. |
