| no partners | | After spending two nights at a nice inexpensive motel base camp in Joshua Tree, I decided to check out this hike. First though I had my second "breakfast at Denny's" in as many days. This one was in 29 Palms, and for the record it was better than the one in Yucca Valley. It was a perfect morning! It's always a little more exciting when you are checking out something new. One thing I have noticed over in California is that the trails are older and more established, especially in the parks. That means they frequently have lots of steps, which I understand, but my old knees aren't really fond of.
Following the hike I headed back to the Joshua Tree Saloon for a cold beer and to upload photos to Facebook and so on, before heading back up into the park to find a spot to camp for the upcoming night. Though I really wanted to stay at Hidden Valley, it is so popular and crowded, even on a weekday, that I ended up at Belle, which worked fine. By the way, all the campgrounds were pretty full, but you can't blame people for wanting to hang out in this magical place! |
