We've driven by it before and I was desperate to reach the summit. I left Cheryl by the parking lot and walked towards the dome and headed in a clockwise direction. I noticed right away this was not the official trail. There were random foot paths all over the place and I followed the trails in a general upward direction. I was huffing for air on the ascent. I checked my gps and saw I was at roughly 9,000 feet.
After some effort, I reached the saddle and saw my path to the summit. I followed the granite up and continued towards the peak. There were people spread out all over the dome. I worked my way to the summit. From there I enjoyed the views and took everything in. The high country of Yosemite is breathtaking!
After hanging out for a few minutes I returned to the trail. This time I followed the official trail back to Tioga Road. At this point I wanted to get back to Cheryl as quickly as possible so I just followed the road. I was back in a few minutes and we continued our journey.
Lembert Dome is a nice hike with spectacular views! I definitely recommend it if you have 1-2 hours to spend in the area. |
