You get a lot of bang for your buck on this short trail--some quick elevation gain to beautiful 360 degree vistas of Tuolumne Meadow and the surrounding mountains. Topping out at about 9,500 elev., this was the highest altitude we hiked to on our Yosemite trip. As we were in a bit of a rush to get to Lone Pine in advance of our Mt. Whitney attempt, we skipped the extra spur trail to Dog Lake. As with the whole Yosemite trip, there were just too many cool things to do, and just not enough time.
Other places along Tioga Road that we wanted to explore, but had to settle for roadside snapshots include Olmstead Point, Tuolomne Meadow, and Tenaya Lake...
Looking forward to going back ... |
