| partners | | this hike had been mocking me for quite some time. i told randy i wanted to do this one a couple of years ago, and he agreed to take me. i just had to wait. there had been several postings on various hiking meetup clubs, but all of them had at least 20 people going up, and that wasn't how i wanted to experience it.
fast forward to last friday: the day was finally here (thank you, randy!). i had heard stories of how difficult that last pitch up to the peak was, in terms of exposure, but i actually didn't feel it. i guess i'm getting better with that, as at one point, i saw a cairn near a ledge and exclaimed "oh, pumpkin! that's some exposure!" but since i thought that was the only way, i scampered on up anyway, exposure be pumpkined. it turns out there was a much easier way to do it, and that's the way randy and john went. note to self: don't do that again!
but yes, i will be doing this peak again. it's a very nice hike. it would be even better if there weren't that canyon that you have to go down and up, making the hike uphill both ways. so worth it, though. the views are great, and i love a good scramble! |
