| no partners | | Made my wife a fantastic offer yesterday, I'll take her to U OF A so she visit my daughter(actually, clean her dorm room), and I get to go to Madera and hike  Well she took it! We left yesterday around 0530 and got to the dorm around 0745 and unloaded my daughters loot(Top Ramin and other delights)I promptly hauled butt down I-19 and proceeded to enter in to a mode of bliss and solitude 
Started at the Procter road area and was not disappointed, there were only a handful of people. I saw some; Blue Grosbeaks, Female Varied Bunting, Kingbird and a Yellow Warbler.
Next I went up to the Santa Rita lodge, again, not many people around  I saw some nice; Acorn Woodpeckers, lots of Mexican Jay's, Gold Finch, and of course Hummers.
From here I drove up the road and parked in the Nature Trail parking lot and hike East up to the Bog Springs trail and went a ways up the hill. My time was limited and could not complete the entire route, but I had a nice lunch up there and enjoyed the quiet.
Next, I hiked up to the Kuboda Inn and watched the feeders and saw; lots of White Breasted Nuthatch, Black Headed Grosbeak, Hummers and some unknown species. From here I hiked up the nature trail, took some stream flow pictures and enjoyed a nice thunderstorm(under the large over hanging rock up on the trail) Boy, the thunder really echo's nicely up here.
On my way out, I went to some State Trust land and went out towards Florida Canyon, but the lighting was horrible, due to the storms.
Conversely, Had a very good Mexican dinner at Roses Mexican Cafe(Campbell and Fort Lowell, just North of the University). |
