| no partners | | This was another variation on some earlier hikes in the area. This time, we ascended via the Suicide Rock Climber's Trail (a pretty rugged route to a popular climbing spot). From there, we headed off-trail to our eventual rendezvous spot with the PCT (Pacific Crest Trail) four or five miles away. We picked up the PCT where it intersected with the Strawberry Valley Campgound (approximately). From there, we were only a few miles from our jump-off point to Peak 9144 (another short, off-trail trek). This peak isn't glamorous or as well known as some of the others in the area, but it affords unobstructed views of the surrounding area and is well worth the work to get to it.
After a short break, we headed down the PCT to Saddle Junction and then made our way down Devil's Slide to the parking lot. Great day with a fun group (as usual...). |
