| no partners | | This popular hike just to the west of Kapaa was one we learned of by word of mouth. The mountain does resemble the outline of a sleeping giant but we had not planned it as a hike. This moderate trail begins to climb as soon as you leave the trailhead, as we climbed we were aware of a cacophony of animals calling out below: cows, chickens, dogs, native birds, all seemed to be trying to outdo each other. For the most part this morning we hiked in the cool shade of thick vegetation, it was only by the summit that the trees seemed to give way to smaller plants. Views from the giant's chin and forehead are outstanding. |
