| no partners | | After yesterday's snow and rain, we hiked in from the Dome Mountain trail head parking lot, along the roads leading to Top Hat Mountain. Because of the new snow, there were many photo opportunities that we don't often see. In the morning, there was still snow on many of the cactus plants, and ice in some of the streams.
This hike is easy for much of the way, as the trail follows a primitive road. At the southeast corner of Top Hat, the going becomes a little more difficult, as the track shifts to fairly open bushwhacking on the side of the slopes leading to the summit of Top Hat. The ridge off to the north of Top Hat where the arch is located provided a good place to take more pictures and have a lunch break. From the arch, we continued down the mountain, and back to the road to the trail head. |
