The flowers, especially the Mexican poppies were out in full bloom by the billions, especially on the east side of Pass Mountain, to the south of the saddle. The air was clearer than it often is, so the tall buildings of downtown Phoenix were clearly visible. The temperature was just perfect - warm, but not too hot. And probably best of all, the hundreds of bees that had a nest in the rocks not too far above the wind cave were flying in and out, but seemed to pay no attention to us as we passed what seemed way to close for our comfort. |
