| no partners | | I planned to poke around some indian ruins along Four Peaks Trail that I had visited years ago and maybe find some petroglyphs or other less well known habitation signs.
I was not very successful. Though the hilltop ruin and it's satellites are chock full of pottery pieces and no doubt were pretty busy places I didn't find any glyphs or metates. I did most of my looking on the Buckhorn Creek side of the ridge but the only surprises were some smaller satellite ruins (rock piles, flattish clearings, pottery) tending toward the northern drainage....maybe that's the more interesting side but it looks like a sea of manzanita.
I had made a plan to descend Buckhorn Creek and loop back to the trailhead. Clearly a bad idea as the creek has way too much vertical and after getting by several tricky drops I bailed out and took a steep (and very slow) path back to the trail.
Hardly worth posting! |
