| no partners | | | Did a nice loop hike today to gather data in order to post descriptions and tracks for three trails in the northern area of the Phoenix Sonoran Preserve. I started at the 10th Street access. 10th St from Carefree Highway is .5 miles paved and .5 miles good gravel road. From the small parking area I took the access trail .11 miles to the Sidewinder Trail, turned left and hiked another .17 miles to the beginning of the Ridgeback Trail. At the first junction with the Ridgeback Overlook I turned right on that trail following that back to the Ridgeback Trail. I continued on that to the Ocotillo Trail, turned left and followed that to the area where the new Sonoran Preserve Trailhead is being built. I took the Sidewinder Trail to its intersection with the Apache Vista Trail, followed that and returned to the Sidewinder. Then I continued on the Sidewinder back to the 10th Street access. The Sidewinder and Ridgeback Trails now have decals on the posts. They were on the Ocotillo as well from where I joined it to the trailhead. There were no decals yet on the Ridgeback Overlook or Apache Vista trails. |
