| no partners | | What a beautiful place! I woke up not feeling very well due to an untimely sinus infection and nearly had to cancel this trip. A long drive that climbed through clouds led to this incredible destination. This hike was started off of the Grant Trail head on a drizzling Sunday afternoon. Beyond the gate, the trail split in two directions, one heading higher, the other slightly lower. I mistook this lower trail from the eastern trail head for the longer one off of the western trail head described. It turned out to be a scenic dead end. Once on the proper trail, there was much stopping to revel in the beauty of this mountain. What a beautiful place. It is rated lower in difficulty than Woods Canyon Lake but seemed, at the least, comparable. This is definitely an area that warrants revisiting.
An added bonus ... starting back to work, sensory memories of the smell of pine, the feel of clouds, the taste of raspberries, and visions of wilderness remind me that in just a few days another weekend awaits. |
