I wasn't feeling too good, and got a late start, which ruined my plans to hike up to Kennedy Peak. I started out at the Deer Creek trailhead, and made it to the Divide Trail junction before deciding I just wasn't going to have enough time to get to the peak. The hike through the grasslands was a new experience for me. With a travel time of almost 2 hours from Safford to the trailhead, I think I'll camp out at the trailhead the night before my next attempt.
